Aca-Blog: Volta!

Hello aca-fans! We hope you had a great weekend, and are getting as excited as we are about the Life Gets Better Together Conference! Here on the Life Gets Better blog, we’ve been featuring one a cappella group per week that are going to be performing at the benefit concert following the conference. So far, we have featured Groovestand, The Mandarins, Orange Appeal, Main Squeeze, and and Otto Tunes! Last but certainly not least, this week we are featuring the up-and-coming, newest group, Volta!

It all started at last year’s Boston Sings Festival – a group of people came together to form a co-ed a cappella group. Having only officially come together in January, Volta is the newest group to campus, and perhaps the smallest: they pack a punch with only eight members. They are happy to perform for the first time at the Life Gets Better Benefit Concert. Says one member, Fabian Rodriguez Castro:

“Volta is the newest a cappella group to hit the Syracuse area. No one in the group had prior experience performing with a co-ed group, but they all had a drive to perform incredible music wherever possible. Although they’re quite new, they hope to keep the group going after college as a semi-pro ensemble.”

The group recently got accepted to perform at this year’s Boston Sings Festival’s Collegiate Competition. They will be singing alongside five other groups. And, of course, be sure not to miss them at this year’s Benefit Concert – Saturday, April 13th! You can find the group on Twitter @voltavocals and stay tuned for a stronger social media presence as the group grows!

Have a great week, aca-fans! Be sure to keep visiting our blog, as we will have plenty of updates and posts leading up to the day Hate Expires. See you April 13th!
